Ideology

Ever since I became interested in self development and the tools and strategies that enable us to make changes in our lives, I still have to this day a conflict with what we are told works in theory and yet seems to fall down in reality.

So often I have read a new theory or gone on courses that promise a simple system of change and yet, when things really go wrong, which is so often does in life, these so called magic bullets just do not hold up.

I know from personal experience and from talking to others, that there is often a real conflict between how we have been led to believe we should feel or behave in certain situations compared to how we really respond as human beings.

Its only until we start talking to others and being honest in these situations do we begin to realise how the majority of us think and yet how different these thoughts are from the theoretical blue print of correctness.

By looking at the Nuts and bolts of our issues, we can see the primary components that have created the thing we call ‘our problem’, warts and all!

Its not a case of trying to find out whats wrong with us. Or even offering a better solution.

The parts that create the problem, as individual pieces have nothing wrong with them.

How they are currently put together is also not wrong.

In fact, we actually do not have anything wrong with us – we work perfectly, given the patterns and beliefs we have installed in our brains.

Instead of looking at what is wrong with us, what mind coaching does is to look at the structure of our beliefs and in turn the behaviour they currently produce.

Its enquires as to what was the purpose of our current model in the past and why we initially invented it.

Mind coaching investigates the idea that, by understanding and restructuring those same elements that create our current situation, or by adding and subtracting certain parts, how new patterns may create preferred beliefs and behaviours going forwards.

‘It is historical continuity that maintains most assumptions – not a repeated assessment of their validity.’
